Job Description:

Job Purpose

To ensure efficient, safe, and reliable operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment across utilities & environmental treatment plants — especially ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant), WTP (Water Treatment Plant), Boilers, Incinerators — minimizing downtime, ensuring environmental compliance, and optimizing performance.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Mechanical Maintenance & Operations

    • Oversee daily operations of boilers, incinerators, pumps, compressors, blowers, agitators, valves, heat exchangers & other rotating / static mechanical equipment.

    • Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and availability.

  2. ETP / WTP Operations

    • Monitor, operate, and maintain all mechanical components in ETP/WTP: clarifiers, filters, gravity settlers, chemical dosing pumps, aerators, dewatering units, sludge handling, pipelines etc.

    • Ensure smooth functioning of water / wastewater treatment processes with minimal disruptions.

  3. Instrumentation & Control Support

    • Coordinate with instrumentation / control teams to ensure mechanical equipment responds correctly to control systems.

    • Maintain records of operational data, incidents, breakdowns, and repair histories.

  4. Boiler & Incinerator Maintenance

    • Maintain and inspect boilers: burners, refractory, steam traps, blow-down systems, safety valves etc.

    • Ensure incinerator is operating within emission norms; maintain its mechanical parts: grates, feed systems, chimney, ash handling etc.

  5. Safety, Quality & Environmental Compliance

    • Ensure all operations comply with safety standards (PPE, lock-out/tag-out, fire safety, etc.).

    • Comply with environmental regulations: emission / discharge limits, waste management etc.

    • Maintain records for audits, inspections, and regulatory bodies.

  6. Team Management & Coordination

    • Supervising maintenance staff / technicians.

    • Facilitate training of staff in mechanical operation & safety.

    • Coordinate with spare parts, procurement, logistics, vendors for timely maintenance.

  7. Planning & Reporting

    • Plan preventive maintenance schedules, spare parts inventory, and work orders.

    • Analyze breakdowns for root cause, recommend improvements.

    • Report regularly on KPIs: uptime, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), downtime, cost of maintenance, etc.

  8. Budget & Cost Control

    • Manage the maintenance budget allocated to mechanical works; optimize costs without compromising safety / quality.

    • Propose and execute cost-saving measures, energy efficiency upgrades.
